Jojuji Temple is an Obaku sect temple located in Nishikyo Ward, Kyoto City. Despite its proximity to Arashiyama, it maintains its traditional tranquility and majesty, making it a hidden gem for Arashiyama sightseeing.
◇Attractions
・A historic building: The main hall is a registered cultural property designated by Kyoto City and was built in 1697 during the Edo period. Inside, you'll find a statue of Shaka Nyorai and a plaque inscribed by Tetsugyudoki, the founder of the Obaku sect.
・A tranquil temple grounds rich in nature: In spring, the temple is filled with fresh green leaves, and in autumn, the temple is filled with brilliant red leaves. While the famous tourist spots are visited by many people, this hidden gem is known as a great spot for viewing autumn leaves.
