Toriimoto Hachimangu Shrine is located in Saga-Arashiyama. It was built by Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, the third shogun of the Muromachi shogunate, at the request of his late mother, Kirako, as a guardian shrine for the "Kon'in Temple," a place associated with his mother.
◇Attractions
・Filming Location for Period Dramas: Due to its proximity to the Uzumasa film studio, the shrine is often used as a location for period dramas. Its quiet appearance retains the atmosphere of an old village shrine, making it a perfect fit for the scenery of period dramas.
・Origin of the Gozan no Okuribi: It is said that the memorial service held at this shrine was the origin of the "toriigata" style Gozan no Okuribi, one of the current Gozan no Okuribi.
