Togetsukyo Bridge

Togetsukyo Bridge is a famous bridge in Arashiyama. It spans the Katsura River (Oi River) and is a symbol of Arashiyama.

Togetsukyo Bridge has a long history, having first been built during the Jowa era (834-848) of the Heian period. Emperor Kameyama later wrote a poem about the bridge, saying, "It resembles the crossing of a cloudless moon," hence the name "Togetsukyo Bridge." The current bridge was rebuilt in 1934 and features a reinforced concrete base and cypress railings.

This bridge offers beautiful scenery throughout the seasons, and is especially popular with tourists during the cherry blossom season in spring and the autumn foliage season. You can also enjoy boating and pleasure cruises along the river.

The area around Togetsukyo Bridge is home to many tourist attractions, such as Arashiyama Park and the Hozugawa River Cruise, and is also a great place to enjoy strolling and sampling local delicacies.
