Suzumushi-dera

Suzumushi-dera (official name: Kegon-ji) is a Rinzai Zen temple located in Nishikyo Ward, Kyoto City. Its nickname "Suzumushi-dera" comes from the sound of bell crickets, enjoyed throughout the year.
◇Key Features
・Happy Jizo: The temple is famous for its "Happy Jizo," said to grant wishes. The Jizo wears straw sandals and is believed to walk to the home to grant wishes.
・Sermons: The head priest's popular sermons, known for their touching humor, are held daily and last approximately 30 minutes.
◇Opening Hours: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (last entrance at 4:30 PM).

Suzumushi-dera is located in the Arashiyama area, making it an easy stop for tourists. While there is a dedicated parking lot, public transportation is also convenient. It is approximately a 15-minute bus ride from our hotel.
