Suminokura Inari Shrine is located in Saga Arashiyama. It enshrines Suminokura Ryoi, a wealthy merchant from the Edo period. The shrine's blessing is prosperity in business.
◇Attractions
・About Suminokura Ryoi: Suminokura Ryoi, known as the father of water transportation, excavated the Takase River and Hozu River, and amassed enormous wealth from the tolls. He was one of Kyoto's three wealthy men (the Suminokura family, the Chaya family of Chaya Shirojiro, and the Goto family of Goto Shozaburo). He also amassed a vast fortune through red seal ship trade with Annam (Vietnam). This shrine was built on the site of Suminokura Ryoi's residence.
・Benefits: It is said to bring prosperity in business. While not a well-known shrine in Arashiyama, many people secretly visit the shrine to seek the blessings of Suminokura Ryoi, who amassed enormous wealth.
