Senkoji Temple

Senkoji Temple is a beautiful temple nestled in the natural surroundings of Arashiyama. It is particularly famous for its Daihikaku, a hall built into the sheer rock face, offering a spectacular view of Arashiyama.

・The Beauty of Daihikaku: Daihikaku was built by the wealthy Edo period merchant Suminokura Ryoi. The wooden statue of Suminokura Ryoi and the Thousand-Armed Kannon statue by Eshin Sozu, one of Japan's Seven Great Priests, evoke a sense of history.
