The enshrined deity is Fujiwara no Uneme no Suke Masayuki, the youngest grandson of Fujiwara no Kamatari. Masayuki began working as a hairdresser to earn a living, which is considered the beginning of hairdressing in Japan. As a result, not only hairdressers but also modern barbers and hairdressers constantly visit the shrine to express their hair-related concerns and prayers.
