Horinji Temple is a Shingon Buddhist temple dedicated to Kokuzo Bosatsu. It is famous for its Jusan Mairi (13th Birthday), a custom in which children who reach the age of 13 (by traditional Japanese reckoning) visit the temple to receive wisdom and good fortune.
