Hokyo-in Temple is a Rinzai sect temple located in Saga, Ukyo Ward, Kyoto City. Many tourists visit to enjoy the abundant nature.
◇Attractions
・Seasonal scenery: Cherry blossoms and azaleas are in full bloom in spring, and scarlet and white spider lilies bloom in summer. The autumn foliage is spectacular, and seasonal flora is beautiful throughout the year.
・Two Tombs: The tombs of Ashikaga Yoshiakira (of the Northern Court) and Kusunoki Masatsura (of the Southern Court), two prominent figures of Japan's Northern and Southern Courts period, are located here. This is because Yoshiakira admired Masatsura's character and requested that he be buried next to him in his will. It is historically interesting that these two men, who were enemies, are buried in the same place.
