Adashino Nenbutsu-ji Temple

Adashino Nenbutsu-ji Temple is a Jodo sect temple located in Adashino-cho, Saga-Toriimoto, Ukyo Ward, Kyoto City.


Located in Adashino, an ancient cemetery, the temple is home to numerous stone Buddha statues and stone pagodas.


◇Attractions of Adashino Nenbutsu-ji Temple


- This historic temple, associated with Kobo Daishi Kukai and Honen Shonin, dates back to the Heian period.


- Approximately 8,000 stone Buddha statues and stone pagodas stand within its grounds.


- The Sento Kuyo ceremony, held every August, sees countless stone Buddha statues lit up, creating a mystical sight.
